You have taken the first step in challenging yourself. Adventure, physical fitness, teamwork, and team building are some of the things that you can learn and do. If you are looking to expand your horizons and do things you never thought you would do or try, the cadet program is the place to be. The cadet program is open to all between the age of 12 and 18. There is no cost to join cadets. We are funded by the Government of Canada and supported by the Department of Defence.

The staff responsible for training and mentoring cadets are experienced, motivated, and highly skilled commissioned officers. They are supported by dedicated civilian instructors and volunteers who bring additional expertise and experience to the program. The safety and well-being of our cadets remain the highest priority in all activities.
Cadets have the opportunity to attend summer training courses at various locations across Canada. Senior cadets may also be selected for specialized courses ranging from three to seven weeks in length at Cadet Training Centres (CTCs). Best of all, these opportunities are provided at no cost to families.
Citizenship is one of the cornerstones of the Cadet Program. As a result, 1596 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps is actively involved throughout the Kitchener-Waterloo region, supporting community events, parades, and memorial services. As an added benefit, participation in these activities can count toward the community involvement hours required for high school graduation.
If your curiosity has been piqued, we invite you to join us at the Kitchener Armoury, located at 350 East Avenue beside The Aud. We meet every Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (1830-2130 hrs).
